Introducing Friendzone

I’m thrilled to announce that Friendzone, your second brain for friendships, is now available on the App Store. After 18 months of dedicated work, I’m overjoyed to release my second app following CouchTimes in 2023.

Why Friendzone?

Friendzone was born from a frustration I’ve felt for years. I’d consider myself a naturally organized person, but many of my friends, colleagues, and people I want to keep close live scattered across different cities, countries, and even continents. Life moves fast, work piles up, notifications buzz, and before I realize it, weeks slip by without reaching out to some of the people I truly want to stay connected with.

To keep those connections alive, I’ve juggled multiple tools: a calendar for birthdays and anniversaries, a note-taking app for notes about people, and a to-do app to remind me to catch up. Having my friendship info scattered across so many places created a fragmented and frustrating experience.

There had to be a better way, one that truly focuses on your relationships and helps you become a more mindful and thoughtful friend. One that is native to the device I use daily and is focused on privacy.

Entering Friendzone

Friendzone is designed to be your relationship companion, helping you nurture the relationships with people who matter through timely reminders and organized conversation tracking. Here’s how it works:

Everything revolves around your friends. You get simple friend management, quick access, and one-tap options to call, FaceTime, or message instantly. This foundation alone makes managing friendships effortless.

But the heart of Friendzone lies in two key features: Notes and Reminders, which bring everything together in one seamless experience.

Notes

At its core, notes help you capture, organize, and remember everything about your friends. Every note is linked to at least one friend, so connection and context are always preserved. You can add details like the type of interaction (phone call, in person, etc.) or even gift ideas that can be resurfaced whenever a birthday is coming up. Plus, you can set reminders to follow up on any note when the time is right.

Reminders

Reminders come in many forms. The standout feature is the “Catch-up Reminder”, which allows you to set smart cadences that nudge you to reconnect with friends regularly, ensuring no one falls off your radar during busy times. You’ll also find birthday reminders, anniversaries, custom events, and note-based reminders. All are designed to keep your friendships thriving.

All reminders live on Friendzone’s home screen, appear as notifications, and can be added as widgets to your iPhone’s home screen for easy access.

Together, these pillars create a unified experience that helps you nurture the relationships with the people who matter most, with timely reminders and organized conversation tracking.

Privacy and sync

When it comes to personal relationships, privacy is paramount. Friendzone stores your data only on your physical device and your personal iCloud, nowhere else. This is a deliberate choice. I don’t want access to your data, and in fact, I can’t access it.

Friendzone requires no account sign-up, shows no ads, and uses no personalized tracking. Your friendships remain yours, private, secure, and fully under your control.

Pricing

Friendzone is an independent business built to grow organically and sustainably. To support ongoing development and continuous improvements, Friendzone is offered as a subscription app with an optional one-time lifetime purchase.

Friendzone comes with a 14-days free trial and comes in these packages:

The Future

I’m incredibly excited about Friendzone’s launch and the value it has already brought to beta testers. This is just the beginning. While I await WWDC 2025 to explore new possibilities that may shape my focus for the summer, my high-level priorities include expanding Friendzone to iPadOS and macOS, as well as integrating with App Intents and Shortcuts.

In addition, I’ll be sharing behind-the-scenes thoughts, ideas for the future, and the ups and downs of this journey in the new podcast Friendzone Chronicles.
